Astrochemistry Across Scales - From Molecular Processes to Cosmic Environments
AIDASCO Reviews is pleased to announce an upcoming Special Issue dedicated to the III Workshop on Astrochemistry, a regional scientific event that will take place July 7–9, 2026, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The workshop brings together researchers and students interested in the chemical processes that shape the Universe - from molecular formation in interstellar space to complex chemical evolution in planetary and stellar environments.
Astrochemistry stands at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and astronomy, combining experimental studies, theoretical modeling, and observational data to provide fundamental insights into the origins and transformations of matter in the cosmos.
About the Event
The III Workshop on Astrochemistry continues a growing regional initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration, visibility, and scientific exchange within the astrochemistry community.
- Dates: July 7–9, 2026
- Registration deadline: June 19, 2026
- Official website: https://sites.google.com/fat.uerj.br/iii-workshop-astro/
- Contact: rrodrigues.iq@gmail.com | workshopastroquimica@gmail.com
The event fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and provides a platform for emerging scientists to present and discuss their work in a collaborative environment.
Scope of the Special Issue
We invite contributions that reflect the breadth of modern astrochemistry, including:
- Molecular formation and reaction mechanisms in interstellar environments
- Spectroscopic characterization of astrochemical species
- Computational and atomistic modeling of astrochemical processes
- Laboratory simulations under space-like conditions
- Chemical evolution in star- and planet-forming regions
- Connections between astrochemistry, astrobiology, and planetary science
Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches that integrate theory, experiment, and observation.
A Platform for Emerging Scientists
This Special Issue is designed to extend the impact of the workshop by offering participants an opportunity to present their work to a broader international audience.
We especially encourage students and early-career researchers to contribute short articles, perspectives, or review-style summaries of their research. This process supports the development of scientific writing skills and strengthens engagement within the scientific community.
Guest Editors
This Special Issue will be coordinated by:
- Prof. Dr. Leonardo Baptista
- Prof. Dr. Leticia Dobler
- Prof. Dr. Breno Rodrigues Lamaghere Galvão
Call for Contributions
We invite participants of the III Workshop on Astrochemistry, as well as researchers working in related areas, to submit contributions that:
- Summarize research presented at the workshop
- Provide perspectives on current challenges and future directions
- Highlight interdisciplinary and methodological advances
- Promote regional and international collaboration
Submission deadline for the Special Issue: October 1, 2026
Organization and funding of the Conference
The III Workshop on Astrochemistry is organized with the support of leading academic and research institutions, including the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, State University of Rio de Janeiro, Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, and Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais. The event is financially supported by the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro, whose contribution plays a key role in enabling scientific exchange and collaboration within the astrochemistry community.
Further details on submission guidelines will be announced soon via AIDASCO communication channels.
